Welcome to the ancient market town of Petersfield, set in the glorious countryside of the South Downs National Park.
Formerly an important coaching centre on the London to Portsmouth road, Petersfield is a great place to live, work and have fun. In the centre of town, enjoy the lively town square with its regular weekly markets. Visit the Petersfield Museum and Flora Twort Gallery, the Physic Garden and the Norman church of St Peter’s. There is plenty of theatre, music, art and sport, and the town and its satellite villages are blessed with great pubs, cafes and restaurants. Petersfield is the perfect base for a walking or cycling weekend or holiday being surrounded by a pretty network of lanes and superb public footpaths giving visitors access to beautiful and varied unspoilt countryside in every direction.
This beautiful countryside consists of the South Downs, which include Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Butser Hill to the south, the Hampshire Hangers and Downs to the west and north, and the tree-lined hills of Hill Brow and Durford to the north east. Petersfield is also ideally situated for access to the South Coast and London and is within easy reach of many of the South’s other great attractions such as Winchester, Chichester and Goodwood, Portsmouth and its historic dockyard and cross-channel ferries and the beautiful, crystal clear chalk streams and rivers of west Hampshire.
The 'What's on' section of our website is by no means an exhaustive list, but will hopefully give you a taster of what our beautiful market town has on offer. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, please see individual websites for the latest information.
