Edward Thomas Memorial Stone

Petersfield Community Centre
The Petersfield Community Centre is a meeting point for many organisations, clubs and societies. Petersfield Physic Garden
The garden, given to the Hampshire Garden Trust by Major John Bowen in 1988, is situated behind the buildings on the north side of the High Street. It occupies the last remaining medieval burgage plot in the town and is still enclosed within stone walls. The garden contains many of the features that would have been found in a 17th-century gentleman's garden. All the plants, shrubs and trees featured in the garden were known in England in that time.

Petersfield South Downs Probus Club
The Club offers many activities including walking, visits, Talks, golf and socialising. Club meetings take place at The Half Moon pub in Petersfield on the last Tuesday of each month (except August and December) and commence at 1100 AM for 1130 AM. After a brief session for Club business, members and guest are entertained to an entertaining Talk by a guest Speaker or a PSDPC member followed by a fine two-course pub lunch. Meetings are usually over by 2PM. The Club holds its Summer Lunch in August and its Christmas Lunch in December.

We are the only proper Table Tennis Club in Petersfield. Open every Monday evening (except Bank Holidays) 6:30 - 9:30pm. All ages and abilities welcome. Social and recreational play on 6 tables in a large hall. Coaching and competitive play if required.

Petersfield Theatre Group
We were formed in 2008 from the merger of the Petersfield Operatic society and Petersfield Hi lights and now perform two full-scale musical shows every year, in June and November at the Town/Festival Hall in Petersfield. We sing, dance, act, build and paint our own scenery and put on shows to a surprisingly high standard. We rehearse Monday and Wednesday evenings and are always on the lookout for new members whether on-stage or off. We invite alternating high quality directing teams who bring tremendous energy and variety to the shows that we stage.

Phoenix Stitchers
Phoenix Stitchers is an independent group of stitchers and other crafters of all abilities and levels who live in and around Petersfield, Hampshire. The aim of the group is to offer members not only an interesting and varied programme of professional speakers at the monthly meetings, but also to arrange a host of tutors to teach on a wide variety of textile related subjects at the Day Schools. The group’s aim to similarly foster and further an interest in textiles and crafts in general amongst young people, resulted several years ago in the setting up of Junior Phoenix Stitchers . This very popular group for young people age 7 and over, also meets once a month in the Petersfield Community Centre.

Rotherlands Local Nature Reserve
This walk takes you through one of Petersfield's hidden gems beside the River Rother. The Reserve can be accessed from Pulens Lane or from near the Rugby Club. The Reserve is maintained by volunteers from the Rotherlands Conservation Group.

South Downs Way
The 160-kilometre-long South Downs Way winds along the chalk escarpment and ridges of the South Downs between Winchester and Eastbourne. The undulating route provides a wonderful trip for long distance riders as well as walkers. It is easily accessible via a short walk or drive from Petersfield.

The Hangers Way
The Hangers Way is a 21-mile long-distance walking route, which begins at Alton Railway Station, out into the lush Hampshire countryside, along a series of steep-sided wooded hills, known as “The Hangers”, through the pretty market town of Petersfield to finish at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

The Heath and Pond
The 22-acre pond is surrounded by 69 acres of heath and woodland. The pond is be used for boating and fishing. The play area is also very popular and the toddlers part has recently been renewed. The home of the Petersfield Cricket Club.

The Market Square
The Market Square is an historic square with interesting streets, buildings, shops and places to eat and drink. It hosts the Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and also the monthly Hampshire Farmers Market. The Library, TIC and Post Office face The Square.

The Serpent Trail
A 64 miles (108km) route which meanders through the beautiful heathland landscapes of West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey. Waymarked by Serpent Trail discs, the route showcases the work of the Sussex Wealden Greensand Heaths Project and highlights the outstanding landscape of the greensand hills.

The Staunton Way
The Staunton Way is a 8.5 to 20.5 mile route from Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Petersfield on the South Downs to Staunton Country Park near Havant. You can walk the whole route or one of the six sections, each offering a good day out.
