CRAFTY CRAYON RUBBINGS

Also known as “Frottage” This fun method involves placing paper over a textured surface and using a pencil or other drawing tool to create a rubbing, replicating the patterns beneath. Frottage allows you to discover surprising shapes and forms, turning everyday surfaces into sources of inspiration.

Supplies:

  • leaves
  • textured surfaces
  • paper
  • crayons

Head into town with paper and pencils in hand and explore! There are so many interesting textures and surfaces to find.  One of our favourite spots is The Heath, where you can find a mix of man-made structures and natural elements. From the rough bark of trees to the patterns on benches, every surface offers a new opportunity to create unique rubbings. So, head out and see what textures you can uncover—it’s a fun and simple way to explore the hidden beauty of Petersfield!
