Platinum level fun to have this Jubilee!

What a 70 years Her Majesty The Queen has had since 1952, and we’re just days away from official celebrations beginning all over the country to mark the impact of her reign on both the UK and the world. But “Hang on ” we hear you say, isn’t the bank holiday supposed to be THIS weekend?!

The Government announced that the late May Bank Holiday Weekend would be moved to Thursday 2nd June and an additional Bank Holiday to be added on Friday 3rd June – celebrations Her Majesty’s pinnacle moment of being the first British monarch to reach the historic milestone, will now be honoured for this year with a four-day weekend. So what platinum level fun can be had in Petersfield this jubilee?

In the days and weeks running up, we’re beginning to see more and more of the businesses within Petersfield decking out their shop fronts and windows with royal and British paraphernalia. Flags, bunting, balloons, union jacks, corgis a plenty – and even a token Queen here and there! It’s certainly worth a wander around our sensational market town centre to see the visual delights for yourself…Why not even go into the shop and speak to the creator themselves or have a browse in the shop? Petersfield Town Council is also running its very own SHOP WINDOW DISPLAY COMPETITION! If you have spruced up your shop window jubilee-styley, please submit photo entries to events@petersfield-tc.gov.uk. Closing date is 31/05/2022 so be quick!

Petersfield Spring Festival – Platinum Jubilee Edition – Wed 1st – Fri 3rd June

One event to absolutely not be missed over the jubilee is Hometown Events’ Petersfield Spring Festival. Petersfield Festivals will be making sure Spring has finally sprung whilst beginning celebrations for Her Majesty’s 70th Jubilee. The three-day Bank Holiday event will be full of awesome activities for people of all ages! Starting on Wednesday 1st June at 7pm a fantastic lineup of live music acts will rock Petersfield Square until 10pm followed by two full days (10am – 10pm) of market traders, entertainment zones and a healthily stocked bar. Boasting a music line-up that is absolutely amazing for a free-to-enter event, the team pride themselves on booking the best established and up-and-coming acts possible to entertain you all – and certainly this Spring is set to be no exception. Petersfield’s Platinum Jubilee Fete – Sat 4th June

Fancy a trip back to the 1950s? On Saturday 4th June from 10am to 6pm, the Petersfield Town Council will be hosting their very own Platinum Jubilee Fete. This family-friendly and free-to-enter celebration will feature a jam-packed programme of events from eclectic music, dancing and a variety of entertainment to delicious, mouth-watering refreshments and lively competitions for both human and four-legged ones – it’s all that one can expect from a right royal knees up! Jubilee Celebrations at Rams Walk – Fri 3rd June Well we think it’s pretty clear to see that our community is nothing short of generous! Not only are both Hometown Events and Petersfield Town Council hosting free entry events, but the incredible team at Rams Walk are also putting jubilations for the town to enjoy! Join in the excitement at Rams Walk on Friday 3rd June from 11am for their Jubilee Celebrations. Take the time to relax and enjoy the music in the Rams Walk deckchairs, and why not enjoy some free popcorn from our popcorn stand? There will be wonderful vintage and retro-themed songs from Verity & Violet (at intervals), as well as the Salvation Army Band. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the glorious Jubilee artwork creations from local schools of Buriton Primary School; Sheet Primary School and Herne Junior School, which are displayed in banners above the walkway. Queen Bee Trail at Queen Elizabeth Country Park – Sat 28th May – Sun 5th June Speaking of schools – the jubilee festivities are very much right slap bang in the middle of half term! Needing inspiration for a fun family outdoor activity – we have another suggestion for you! Hop in the car with a picnic and head off to Queen Elizabeth Country Park. From Saturday 28th May to Sunday 5th June 2022 between 10.00am and 4.00pm, go dabble in the excitement of the jubilee with the Queen Bee Trail! This half term holiday try to solve their riddle as your search for royal pictures along our Jubilee trails. £3 per trail, includes a guide, pack of pencils, and a craft to take home to decorate.
