Delve into the ancient past and stomp the grounds that the ancestors of the South Downs have before from the Stone Age and Iron Age right through to the Romans and Saxons. The site is nestled into a charming corner of the South Downs National Park with several footpaths close by to scout.

2. Peruse around The Heath Lake
Take a waterside walk in the heart of Petersfield at The Heath. It could be a simple loop following the boardwalk around the pond or head off the beaten track towards the expansion of heathland where dogs can bash about. Finish off with some light refreshments to refuel at The Plump Duck.

After exploring the history of Petersfield, why not head to The Townhouse where both man and dog alike will be well looked after.
