Events are BOOMING this August in Petersfield!

Music lovers, film buffs, foodies, book worms; whatever floats your boat, feed your passion with a visit to one of Petersfield’s exciting events this August – ranging from the traditional to the eccentric! Celebrate the best of the countryside with a fun packed day at the South Downs Show; enjoy a summer picnic at Poet’s Stone whilst on a walk from Petersfield Walking Festival, or enjoy family fun (with a healthy helping of Pimms) and get into the spirit of Summer at Petersfield Summer Festival.

We have plenty to offer – here are just some of the recommended highlights…

6th & 7th August – Sunflower Festival

Enjoy a wide range of music genres on our main stage at the Festival Hall and even more entertainment on our acoustic stage in the Rose Room where you will find our selection of beers, cider, wines and spirits.  So let us entertain you as you show your support for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC’s) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Petersfield Town Council have been humbled by the support of local musicians as they give their time and talent to the Ukraine fundraiser Music Concert.

9th August & 16th August – Folksy Theatre at Petersfield Museum

Folksy Theatre will be making a return to Petersfield with their new family show, ‘Alice in Wonderland’! Following the traditional synopsis of the Lewis Caroll tale, come along and meet some of the strangest and most peculiar characters! Filled with live music and puppetry, it’s the perfect show for the whole family!

 

They will also be back on 16th August with their new touring production of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.

13th & 14th August – South Downs Show

The South Downs Show has been running for decades in various formats and this year, Hometown Events will be bringing back this two day event including everything from awesome arena acts, entertaining attractions, dog shows, animal petting zoo, children’s rides and fun zone, country life stalls, alpacas, beer tent and catering with live music and much much more…

18th August – Creatures at Sky Park Farm

THE CREATURE TEACHERS will be visiting Sky Park Farm on 18th August, 11am – 3pm for everyone to enjoy. Lisa Kiely, and some of her Creature handlers will be in the Deer Hub for those visiting the Farm Experience. The Creature Teachers will have four stations with a variety of creatures to be seen. An owl will be out for the duration and there will be multiple opportunities to handle a snake! The Creature Teachers will also be bringing many insects and little animals for everyone to learn more about! Get up close to the array of creatures that will be available on the day.

Entry will be free for those who book Farm Experience tickets before 18th August. There will be a small charge of £1 per child for those who do not book in advance. Book your ticket to the Farm Experience HERE.

20th-27th August – Petersfield Walking Festival

This weeklong event from 20-27 August is for habitual hikers, seasonal striders, weekend wanderers and amateur adventurers. With the best road and rail connections within the South Downs National Park, Petersfield is an easy place to reach for the start of your exploratory and sensory journey. With more than 46 walks on offer over the 8 days there’s something for everyone.

Booking is required for each route. Please check out the festival programme to find and book in the local area to find free walks to suit your ability, dates and interests.

27th – 29th August – Petersfield Summer Festival

Hometown Events can’t wait to be back in August 2022 for another weekend packed with sunshine, Pimm’s, music and market stalls! The Petersfield Summer Festival takes place in the centre of town over Saturday evening and all day Sunday and Monday. It will feature performers, craft, food and market stalls, and other events.

 

You can drop into the free-to-enter community event throughout any of these times, as many times as you like:

Sat 27th August – 7pm-10pm

Sun 28th August – 10am-10pm

Mon 29th August – 10am-4pm
