Starting off with things to see and do, we are lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful countryside and outdoor spaces in Petersfield, so we’ve picked some of our favourite spots for your family visit. Each location has great opportunities for fun things to do – including themed walking trails, animals and berry picking!
Complete with a popular adventure play area and the chance to see some stunning herds of deer, Sky Park Farm is a wonderful place to visit to discover more about the beautiful Red, Rhite and Sika deer on site.
Average visit time – 2-4 hours – the farm trail is approx 3 kilometres and takes about 11/2 hours to walk.

Being just a short walk from the heart of Petersfield, The Heath Pond is a wonderful open space to visit – complete with a children’s playground, refreshments and a 22 acre pond. There’s even a seasonal rowing boat or pedalo hire where you can explore the water during the warmer months!

Fancy feeding some penguins? Birdworld is an incredible bird-specialist zoo with interactive exhibits and a huge range of bird species in all shapes and sizes. There’s plenty on offer for a whole day of activities at Birdworld, including Penguin or Pelican feeding or visiting The Palm Café.

Combined with a trip to The Heath, as mentioned above, The Plump Duck is a brilliant independent café located in a brilliant spot right next to the children’s play area. We recommend you pick up a panini or huddle over a hot chocolate and enjoy the view across the lake while the kids take turns on the slide!
If you’re looking for a quintessential British café, then The Tea Barn at Durleighmarsh is the place for you! Located a short drive from the centre of Petersfield, nestled in the heart of the South Downs, The Tea Barn is a stunning location to indulge in a pot of tea and a big slice of a cake… or even a scone, jam and cream.
For some, a day trip out isn’t complete without a trip to the shops to pick up a memento. Here’s some suggestions for some fantastic local businesses we’re lucky to have in our town.
Petersfield’s historic market town is made complete with our incredible weekly market. Every Wednesday and Saturday, The Square (known as the heart of the town) is populated with a bustling market of stalls packed with local produce to fill your baskets. The stalls vary week on week, so you never quite know what brilliant businesses you will find!
Bambino Baby is a lovely independent babywearing specialist and baby gift boutique, based in the centre of Petersfield. Run by owner, Roamy, the customer service is second to none and has won the boutique multiple awards. Pop in with the kids and pick up some lovely hand-picked gifts!
A hidden gem in the centre of town. The Folly Market is a quaint, old fashioned indoor market complete with a variety of small independent shops. It’s a lovely place to visit with the family and pick up some treats to take home!
